In an attempt to brush up on my Javascript and PHP, I have once again started working on DanQuest. The new DanQuest renders the game area in a Javascript canvas. I’ll keep you updated as to when this new version will be playable.

The Future of Smartphone Video Chat
June 9, 2010 - 10:34 AM
Yesterday Apple announced the iphone 4, along with it’s new video chat feature, FaceTime. This will be the second “superphone” to have a front facing camera with chat features. The HTC EVO 4G supports video talking with QIK, an app on the Android Market. My concern is that iPhone 4 buyers will not be able to get Qik video chat on their phone, or any video chat service for that matter, other than FaceTalk. Apple’s policy on iphone applications has usually been that an application can not replicate any of the phone’s standard functions. So it may be that when the iphone 4 comes out, there will be no ability to video chat between an iphone4 and an HTC EVO 4G, or any other phone with video chat capability. I’m not sure how Apple will deal with this, if they will allow third-party video chat applications (or have already) or restrict users to using their FaceTime app. Another thing that concerns me is how many other video chatting services are going to show up because of these new devices. The more services there are the less likely that the person you want to video chat with is using the same service. I think it’ll be interesting to see how this capability will evolve and how long it will take to catch on.
Tweet On Post WordPress Plugin
June 4, 2010 - 7:22 AM
Ok, I’m sure that if you are familiar with WordPress and Twitter, there are PLENTY of plug-ins that allow you to post to Twitter when you publish on your blog. I made a plugin that not only sends your blog posts to Twitter, but shows your homepage as the tweet’s source. What that means is that when your tweet displays in someone’s stream, it will also have a link back to your homepage. I just started it today, so this should be considered a rough beta, but if you would like to try it out download it here.
Let me know what you think.
Update (6-9-10): I uploaded a newer version which might fix some of the problems anyone might have experienced.
